From the other day...enjoyed the music from wmmt, classic country, bluegrass, and oldtime. I think their website is appalshop.org cool non-commercial, and true to music. While listening to them I'd would traverse Pine Mountain on US 119...quite the large mountain it is! A pig trail to be exact, but a great view during the day, Some folks think of these mountains and it's people as being backwards and ignorant, as being impoverished and lazy, ( the areas of poverty as being a direct and indirect result of Yankee aggression during the War Between the States and the policies of the so-called "Reconstruction", or more accuratally the "Punishment and Occupation" of the South!....uh...sorry...on my High Horse ),...anyhow, there are those who feel, and have these negative views of These Mountains...but what they fail to recognize is the Beauty!...of the People and their Land. The Southern Appalachian Highlander is a dignified and generous soul, warm and hospitable, a linaege from the Celtic-Anglo Isles, with a musical history that returns to those Isles. The Mountaineer is also rugged, resourseful, and saavy. I just hope that any outsider will see this! Will close here...and return in the coming days...
